A short murder mystery
Retired widows, Connie and Sable Butterworth have set up a private investigating business. Their third case involves a mysterious night-time visitor.
Jocelyn Kent contacts Connie and Sable and asks them to look into strange occurrences which happen nightly in her office. Every morning, when Jocelyn returns to her office, she discovers items have been moved despite the office being secure.
Not happy with scaring Jocelyn, the intruder has now started to make attempts on Jocelyn’s life by sabotaging the drinking water and furniture.
Connie and Sable are soon on the case and set up a night-time vigil. But there is something about Jocelyn’s office that bothers Connie. As the case proceeds, she remembers what it is, and the case takes a surprising turn.

I can't begin to tell you how overjoyed I am whenever I receive an email letting me know that a new book by Gillian Larkin has been released. In the middle of life's hassles, or when I'm feeling down, suddenly there's a new light-hearted mystery by Gillian and I just know by the time I sit down and read it, I'm going to be happy and in a great mood.Ms. Larkin has several series at present and every one of them will bring a smile to your face. There is plenty of mystery, but her characters always manage to steal the show. In this latest one, Connie and Sable Butterworth just can't be beat. I love their banter and how they go about solving mysteries.
You'll definitely want to check out this gem of an author. I guarantee she'll give you something to smile about.

A Deadly Service (A Butterworth Mystery Book 3) by Gillian Larkin is a short story mystery that has the two elderly gals solving crime once again. Great mystery, fun characters, enjoyable plot, and spiced with a bit of humor. Always a great read before bed.
Excellent well written mystery. Connie and Sable have e new client to help. This is a mystery with a twist. We all do things to help us recall things and Connie irons clothes while watching episodes of " Murder She Wrote". Enjoy this book!
The relationship between Connie and Sable is wonderful and most people would love to have someone as close as they are. The intrigue is not too complicated and I prefer that to a not very beliveable story. Reading a little over one hour is perfect when I am in a sleepless mode.
I love these little mysteries! They are short, sweet, and to the point. These two old ladies don't just sit around watching the grass grow during their retirement. This is their first paid investigation and they are excited about it. It didn't turn out the way they expected, but they caught their criminal. I was also a bit surprised, too.
Connie and Sable get a paying client. They are getting quite good at solving mysteries. It's such fun to watch their investigations business evolve. This time Connie and Sable learn that not all clients are what they seem to be. You won't be disappointed when you reach the surprise ending. This book is definitely worth reading.
First day on the job for Jocelyn Kent, our sleuthing duo, Connie and Sable already identified a couple of suspects. The Butterworth sisters were hired to check who at night seems to break into the office of Jocelyn for some unknown nefarious reason.
The surprise is that Don, Jocelyn's husband may very well be the culprit. But why? Especially since he apparently supports Jocelyn's fledgling office renovation business.
Though a short story this whodunnit packs a lot of action, mystery and even some unexpected humour into the plot. Great read.
